NOTHING BUT NEUTRALS

If there’s one decorating trend that has taken the world by storm in recent years, it’s the obsession with neutral tones. From interiors to exteriors, neutral colors have become the go-to choice for creating sleek, timeless spaces. And guess what? This trend has made its way into the world of pickleball courts too!

Several of our clients have fallen in love with the neutral look for their backyards, realizing that there’s always beauty in the ordinary. One standout project featured Gray for the border and kitchen areas and Dove Gray for the main court. These shades might seem straightforward, but by doubling the pigment and taking photos at just the right time of day, the colors ended up darker and more dramatic than expected.

This image captures that exact project. The darker tones create a bold, sophisticated look that still feels timeless. It’s a perfect example of how even in the realm of neutrals, subtle adjustments can lead to stunning results.

In another project, we used the same Gray and Dove Gray combo but with less pigment for a more subtle, understated vibe. The difference in pigment levels resulted in a court that’s softer on the eyes but equally beautiful.

Here’s the final look—simple, elegant, and undeniably classy. It’s amazing how the same colors can create such different atmospheres just by tweaking the intensity.

Now, for a super interesting twist! About a year after completing one of these courts, the owner requested some touch-ups. We aimed to match the original Dove Gray, but since it came from a different dye lot, the color ended up slightly different. To fix this, we repainted the entire border, which unintentionally resulted in a unique three-color design that the owner absolutely loved! This goes to show that even when dye lots vary, the results can be unexpectedly stunning.

When it comes to choosing court colors, though, it’s important to remember practicality. Take, for example, the courts at the Bird House. They’re undeniably stunning, but black is one of the hardest colors to keep clean.

Think of it like a black car: it’s the sleekest on the road when it’s clean, but it shows every speck of dirt. If you’re considering court colors, lighter shades like Gray or Dove Gray don’t just look great—they’re also much easier to keep clean and maintain.

Whether you’re all about neutrals or considering bolder choices, there’s always beauty in simplicity—and sometimes, a little surprise is just what your court needs!
